Hello from Canada
My name is Nadine Thompson (Nixon) I was born and raised in Accrington as was my mom (Shirley) dad Walter and brother Paul. My dad died suddenly on June 11 of a blood clot. His death has been devastating to our family. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who remembers the Nixon family. I would love to hear from you. My brother and I went to St. Oswalds. He is 41 and I am 45 My mom and dad worked at Silk Velvet until we immigrated in 1969. My dad was 72 years old and was an avid Blackburn Rovers fan. He was so looking forward to Euro 2004 but unfortunately he left us two days before the first day. We miss him so much. Anyone remember???

Hello Nadine. I'm afraid I don't know any of your family and can't be of any help but can offer my sympathy at the sudden death of your father.

Re: Hello from Canada
Please accept my condolences on your sudden loss. Like many here I don't know of your family but maybe you can find some kind of solace here with discussions about our town and its many characters and traits. Again, heartfelt sympathies.

Re: Hello from Canada
Thanks Doug and Janet for your messages. I only wish that I had found this earlier because dad was really excited about maybe contacting some friends or family. Oh well....you can't change it can you. I miss him so much. I will come on often and let me hair down - maybe I can find some old friends even though I was only 11 when we came over here.

Re: Hello from Canada
Thanks guys, you are all so nice. Anne - it really hurts doesn't it - how old was you mum? And becki - I am 45 so I did have many more years with my dad than you did with your mom. I have to hold on to that.
Matthew - no, my mom is here and has been since 1969. She is alive and well and we must look after her. Mom used to run a dance school called the Jones school of dance.
Little mo - Sydenham is north of Kingston.
