Hollins School 1976!

Dear Accringtonians,

Here is a photo of Hollins School Staff Room, I left in 1976. Anyone leave that year also, anyone know anything about teachers and other pupils from that period and what has happened to them etc? Any info would be appreciated

Thanks,

Nigel McHugh.

Re: Hollins School 1976!

Thanks for the link Lancsdave lot of names I remember on that thread. Magpie I remember the name Mr Morley but I can't put a face to it. Last teacher I saw in Accy from Hollins was Mr Neville who lived on Burnley Road but he is probably well over 70+ now.

Re: Hollins School 1976!

Hi, Nigel.
My name is Rick Martyn, though if you are who I think you are, You may remember me as Martyn Ali. I haven't lived in Accrington for 30 Years, I joined the RN, left in '81 to become a pro entertainer, and now work as a Cruise Director out of Miami. I am looking for some of the people I used to hang out with all those years ago, if you could help. Ray Moor, Andrew Moore, Paul Meredith, Gemma (Curtis). Cheers, Rick

Re: Hollins School 1976!

Hi Rick(Martyn), I am the Nigel you think, you had an Alsatian and lived up Whalley Road. I havn't seen any of those people since school, you mean Guy Curtis? So I don't know what happened to them? I think Ray Moore got married very young? If you find out let me know - cheers. Your change of name didn't have anything to do with Ricki Martin the singer, did it?

I went to Miami a good few years ago now on the way to Jamaica, went on Miami Beach and also saw a manitee in the water off a bus, totally unexpected.

Good luck with your search.

Nigel aka Kestrel X

Re: Hollins School 1976!

Hi Kestrel

I left in 1975 and I am now a governor at the school.
Mr Cross left earlier this year, Graham Bradley and Keith Vizard are still there, Audrey Cooper has retired but is helping out as a mentor. I see Mr Blackburn around Accrington Town Centre now and again.

Re: Hollins School 1976!

Hi Pheonix the only name that may mean anything to me is Audrey Cooper, was that the P.E. Teacher? Mr Blackburn name rings a bell - not sure Keith Vizard sounds familiar?

Re: Hollins School 1976!

Mr Blackburn was the English teacher and was based in the Library, Keith Vizzard was a new PE teacher.
