isle of man relative

Anyone on the isle of man clicking on to the accrington web maybe you can help me A relation of mine moved to the island in the sixties her name francis irving who lived in dowry street accrington along with a sister who at the same time as francis went to the isle of man emigrated to australia leaving behind a brother cyril who died a few years later I understand that francis ran a hotel in douglas as my parents went on regular holidays staying at her hotel as did other members of my parents family but moving away after I got married I lost touch and with both of my parents dead no way of finding out what became of francis I would dearly like to know Have tried various isle of man websites but no joy hope so one can help

Any idea of teh name of teh hotel? My sister lives on the island and I have a cousin who has been there ~20 years

Francis was the same age as my oldest brother who unfortunely died young however he would been eighty this year so unless the hotel is still in the family I cant see francis running it I remember my mother telling me it was on the promenade near the docks quite a big place too , apparently she went to the island to get married sorry thats all I know

Unfortunely do not know francis irving married name she left accrington to get married has no living family left in accrington as stated in my first post her only sister emigrated and both her widowed mother and only brother died soon after she left for the island I was hoping for a some one over there clicking on the accrington web having gone over to live on the island like francis did and by chance met her or her family I keep my fingers cross

HAve you thought of looking up teh marriage licenses? You could find out her married name and go from there. I'm not sure if teh IOM has their own registry or whether they join with the UK.

Attended a family celebration at the weekend among the guests a relative who went to the isle of man and stayed at francis irvings It was actually a boarding house situated on a hill high above douglas The relative did not know francis irvings married name only that her husband came from coventry and had children francis age know would be eighty plus hope that rings a bell
