Looking for Moore / Beasley family

Hello, I am looking for info on my paternal grandfather and Grandmothers family.

He was David Moore married to Lilli Henrietta Beasley in 1912

He was a railway signalman and died in 1960 in Accrington

Their children were Kathleen Moore b 1913 Leo Moore b 1921 Anthony James Gerard Moore b 1925 i think and another boy bobby or will ?

they lived in 56 Manchester rd Accrington for some years .

I never met my fathers side of the family and would love to know more and maybe see a photo of my grandparents.

Hoping someone may be able help

Thankyou .

Re: Looking for Moore / Beasley family

There was a Moore St and a Moore Court in the town from the 1860s. They were named to honour John Moore, who was a land agent /manager for the landowning Peel family. There's nopt much, if any, of the street left now, as it got developed and called Eastgate. A Gordon Moore still lives locally ( Baxenden)and is a leading light in the cine club. His late wife was Benita Moore, a librarian/writer.
In the 1820s , a William Beasley or Beesley was a political/union activist in the town, but left under suspicious circumstances

No 56 is still there. Ascertain which school the kids went to. That may still be standing.

Re: Looking for Moore / Beasley family

There are 11 Moors in the BT phone directory in BB5, but no Beasleys.

There are 4 members of the Lancashire Family History Society interested in their MOORE ancestors, but they don't mention any from Acc. None are looking for Beasleys

Re: Looking for Moore / Beasley family

Your grandma Lillie Henrietta Beasley was born 1891 in Paris France, her parents were Edward and Elizabeth, Edward born 1868 in Warwickshire and Elizabeth born 1866 at sea. They also had a daughter Harrietta ? born 1890 in Southport and a son Eustace born 1897 in Staffs. Sounds like your gt grandad could have been a traveler or maybe in the forces.
In 1901 the family lived at 33 Forest St. Burnley. They also had a son Leo born 1902 in Burnley. Good luck with your grandad he seems to be quite elusive but I will check more as time allows. He was born in 1889 and as you say died 1960 in Accrington.

Re: Looking for Moore / Beasley family

O.K. lostribe here is some info on your grandad.
David Moore born 1889 in Cockermouth Cumberland to Henry Moore born 1864 Cockermouth and Margaret nee Hurd born 1866 Cockermouth. Their other children were Alexander born 1885, Robert born 1887, Henry born 1891 all born Cockermouth and Sarah Elizabeth born 1894 Burnley and Ernest born 1897 Burnley.
Henry and Margaret were married in 1884 Cockermouth. Henry's mother was Martha born 1823 in Ireland, she was living with Henry and Margaret in 1871 as a widow. It looks like the family moved from Cockermouth to Burnley between 1890 and 1894.
Hope this helps a little.
