Question Needing help!!

I am trying to find out about my father's uncle who lived and died in Accrington in 1952. He was LEO MURRAY, died aged 35 on 27th MARCH 1952, and lived at 57 GRANGE street Accrington. I have no idea about the area, aside from he died at Victoria Hospial and worked as a steel erector.
Does anyone know where I can get archive material such as Voters Roles ect. We are not sure if he married, as he may have had a family. as his brothers, 4 and sisters 2 are dead, and my dad and aunt died recently I have no one to get info from. Any help from local people would be greatly apppreciated!!

Thumbs up Re: Needing help!!

Hello Martin,
I`m doing my family tree and the info you require should be avalible from the local studies section of Accrington library. They have electoral rolls going back to the 1900`s and also grave plans for Accrington and Dill Hall cemetaries and a few other local parish church yards.

Welcome to AccyWeb Martin. Accy library should have some records but if you are out of the area I don't know how you'd get at them.

Good luck with your search Martin, I was going to suggest the library as well, also I think there are some on-line family history tracing sites, have you done a search?

Re: Needing help!!

Many thanks. It's just ifficult as I know nothing about him, and I have never been to Accrington. Are there local newspapers that I could look up or advertise in?It seems he died suddenly as there was a post mortem. Also it was Grange Street not George Street, my mistake. He seems to have moved down there with his woman., and may have had a family but my father and aunt died recently so I have no one to ask! m

Mick thanks 4 ur help. I found Alice died in 1998 at VineHouse Union Road Oswaldtwistle accrington. I've no idea what that is. Also she was born Blackpool and the Chevin on the Census must have been a relative as that was her single name. No idea where she went from Grange Street to there,as 40+ years involved. Apparently she was a retired care assistant. Many thanks for your help and any futher assistance. M

Re: Needing help!!

Vine House was probably a nursing home or more likely a residential home.

Have you any idea when and how she changed her name to Hibbins? Did she marry a Hibbins?
