S. Harrison, Photographer

Hi I'm doing my family tree, and my g Aunt(Thomasina) was married to a S. Harrison who was a photographer in Accrington, probably in the early 1900's.
My grandma(her sister) was called Goody, their maiden name was Bouch. She lived on King St, Accy. Anyway, this g. aunt had two children, a girl Stella and a son Ivan. I remember my dad talking about a cousin who lived in Darwen.
If anyone has any info that would be great.

I have two Bouch's in my WW1 files, one Arthur lived in Ossy, the other Thomas lived in Accy.

With an unusual name like that.
They must be a twig of the same tree.
Little twigs can grow into big trees.
Some times it can pay to go sideways
down another branch.

Re: S. Harrison, Photographer

There were plenty of harrisons working as professional photographers in Lancashire between 1840 abnd 1940. I give you the Accrington ones:-

Joseph. 91/93 Abbey St 1885-1900 then 114 Abbey St to 1918

Sharon William ( Sharon and William perhaps?) 114 Abbey St 1912-15 also in Borough Rd, Darwen 1924-32

I recently published a book of Accrington photos - some of these are Harrison's.I have seen examples of their studio portraits. As did most phjotographers, they printed them onto what are called cabinet and carte-de-visite cards.

Arthur henry was at 79 Bolton rd, Darwen 1897/8

Re: S. Harrison, Photographer

Thanks Bob,
I don't have much info, all I know is that they lived in Darwen.
And I don't know what years they might have been in Accy.

Re: S. Harrison, Photographer

At present, I cannot find my reference book on Lancashire professional photoghraphers. He is not mentioned in another book on prominent Accringtonians who died pre-1923.
