Thomas Starkie - new CD

The Lancashire Family History Society have just publsihed a new CD: - A Lad from Accrington; Flight Sgt Thomas Starkie (1918-44)

It tells the story of Thomas, born and raised in the town, who joined the RAF and flew on bombing missions over Germany. There is much on his RAF days, including the name of the German pilot who probably shot him down, but very little on his family and life in Accrington. The author, married to a Starkie has tried to give a picture of his everyday life, but in my view he hasn't succeeded all that well. He mentions a cricket pro, Cec Pepper, playing for Enfield, but he never did. He lists local cricket teams but leaves Church out.

The item costs £4.50, plus £1.20 post from the society, but can probably be bought at the Town Hall or library.
