TOWNLEYS of Accrington

A gentleman in New Zealand is researching the Townley's.

"In my family history research I have recently found a close connection to the Townleys in Lancashire, with my grandfathers sister Jane Ellen PLUMMER, marrying a John William TOWNLEY in May 27th 1905 at St PetersChurch, Accrington"

Anyone out there know any Townleys?

Re: TOWNLEYS of Accrington

Check out the Latter-day saints website
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Sear...rch_census.asp
Select the British 1881 Census
There is a John Wm Townley born 1880, father Ralph Townley, living at Spring Cottages
Jane Ellen Plummer was born 10 July 1884 so could fit.

Not many other John Wm Townley living in Accrington on 1881 Census

Sir Simon Towneley still owns Towneley Hall in Burnley and a lot of the land around it. You might want to try there as a start.
