Hi becki, I used to go rhyddings and left in 85 about the same time as your mum would have but her name does'nt sound familiar. I have been in contact with some old school friends using Friends reunited web site, have you tried it. www.friendsreunited.co.uk/ Hope this helps. Steve

Re: trying to find information of mothers childhood!!

Good luck girl. I hope you find the answers you’re looking for....But remember that your mum was a unique individual with her own dreams and aspirations. Not every answer you receive will fit into your own memories of your mum.

Again Good luck and best wishes Becki………

Doug.

Re: trying to find information of mothers childhood!!

Hi Becki,

How very sad that your mother has passed away at such a young age, I can understand your longing to know more about her. Best sources of information will be your own family. Your mothers parents, your father and his parents, brothers, sisters, cousins and uncles and aunts. Maybe you are not close to many of these people, now would be a good time to try and build some bridges. It's quite amazing, most people I know, myself included, would give anything to have a couple of hours talking to relations who are no longer with us in order to clear up mysteries and questions that we have; which we never thought to ask about when they were alive. You have a unique opportunity here, don't waste it. Seek out your relations and find out all you need to know. Don't forget to pass this knowledge down to your own children in time.
Write it all down and make yourself a family history. After you are gone, your children and other members of your family will be glad that you took the trouble.

I wish you the very best of luck in your quest,

JohnW

Did she have any other family she was living with at the time of her death that you might be able to trace? Maybe you could find out something from the local paper if there was an obituary published. Good luck with your search.

Re: trying to find information of mothers childhood!!

I heard my dad's obituary was posted in the Accrington Observer - I think is was June 18 or whatever day it comes out after June 11 - did anyone see it or even better would anyone still have a copy of it. I would love to know. Walter Nixon - there should also have been a picture of him???

If you'd like a copy of the paper and if none of the members here have one it should be possible to get a back copy from the Observer offices.

I do feel for you, my mother died when I was 19, and I feel I've missed such a lot.

I have some cousins who are Eddlestons, but I don't know of a Julie. I will ask them to see if they know of her. If you do try Friends Reunited, they have street names as well as schools, so you could perhaps search on that if you know where she lived.

I wish you luck, love, but keep the memories.

Re: trying to find information of mothers childhood!!

Somebody suggested that already. I hope you found people who knew her who can tell you more about her Becki. Were you looking to find her and found out she died?
