Re: Woodnook St Mary's

Gosh that takes me back. It was taken when we won the Accrington School Sports up at Highams playing fields. A few names spring to mind, George Parker, Linda Parker, Joyce Broderick, Christine Woods, Linda Renton [me], Linda Barnes, Ray Heys. Good times.

Re: Woodnook St Mary's

[QUOTE=Trev;692040]That would be Fred Lingard, his lad Kevin went there the same time as me 63-70 also some names from the past-
Derek Power
George Maguire
Rob Clarke
Brian Ashworth
Philip Edge
Christopher Whittaker
and many more.

My husband Andrew Smith was the football teams goalkeeper and he has a photograph with all the team on it, winning the football shield.
Kevin Lingard was holding the shield in the middle and Mr.E. Barton was the teacher. We will attempt to scan the photo and add to the link if anyone wishes to see it.

I remember a big white rocking horse in the entrance of the infants.
I have so many happy memories of that school.
I was the captain of the girls in Mr Bartons class and used to go to the post office every Monday morning to get the saving stamps.
School friends names i remember.......Susan Kennady. Janet Parkinson. Lesley Mcmillan. Derek Edge. Micheal Allen. James Dukes.
If i remember correctly the dinner lady was Mrs Duxbury.
My name was Lesley Owen.
My brother went there as well as my mother and uncles.
Any body else out there that went to that school dueing them years.

i started in infants in 1965, and there after i went into mrs Aspens class and remember her as she was heavily powdered up. After that in Mr Whallis class (cool man), but when he got angry at times, his bold a corn shaped head used to go beetroot red.
I was in the same class as Mich Allen, James Dukes, Susan Kennedy, Nigel Ogden and Nigel Dodd, Derek Edge, Loraine Taylor, so if you were in that class, maybe now you can remember me Shaz, as my family was the first Pakistani in that school.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
