CHICKEN FOR SALE 20p
Alot of people won't admit to buying the red-stickered price reduced stuff in the supermarkets (you know, the stuff that they have'nt got rid of on it's sell-by date.) For something like red meat, this is a major error....the longer the meats hanging on the shelves, the better...bacteria has bred longer and it's more tender and tasty.
That does'nt apply with chicken though, so you got to be careful...occaisionally, I see 50p knocked off a small chicken (say £2.95 to £2.45), which is not the deal you may think because if it's an ASDA chicken it's probably originated from a Thailand Deep freeze Warehouse where it's spent the previous 5 years and as been purchased by Walmart-Asda for the princely sum of 60p, including transport & packing.
Last night, however, I picked up a price-reduced medium fresh chicken in Iceland for 20p! I kid you not! There was nowt wrong with it, either (or at least the half that I ate). The original price was £3.49, so that's one hell of a bargain. Does anyone else know of similar bargains?
