Quad Electrostatics (ESL 57)

Before I say anything else, these are BIG and UGLY. as in 3 foot tall and 4 foot wide EACH. Make sure you realise just how big before considering buying them.

I've owned these speakers for nearly 20 years and have only ever fed them by the 33/303 combo for sale in the other thread or my Quad 22/ II's i.e. teh very speakers they were originaly designed to work with. They have never been overdriven and are as sweet as they come.

These are probably the most natural sounding speakers you will ever hear. when new in the late sixties they cost more than a family car. They do not work like most speakers you will have ever seen, there is no 'cone' moving back and forward, instead they use two very light 'films' one charged up with static electricity (They need to be plugged in btw). This lack of weight means a more natural sound as there is no cone momentum to colour the sound.

A real enthusiast speaker I am selling these purely due to no longer having room due to all Siobhans stuff. Julie has put up with them since we met and I know whislt she will miss the quality sound they produce(the Kef iQ5SE's I have replaced them with are good but still not in the same league) she won't miss the ugly things in the room.

So offered to you at £300 the pair.

Pictures of actual items to follow but here is a link to similar

The Vault #57: QUAD ESL57

(PS mine are like the Black ones)
