Wartime Children's Evacuee Clothes?

My daughter who is almost 10 is doing a project on the war in a week and a bit
The school want them to dress up as a wartime child/evacuee
They don't give much notice eh!

Anyway... was wondering if anyone had any items from when their children did this at school or any ideas of things I could use

Have looked on Ebay.. but don't fancy paying that price for her to only wear it for half a day

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds

I have a couple of dresses that might fit - Maddie and her friend wore them to a school concert just before Christmas. They're the right period - in fact they were pretty much the only two girls in the concert in the right period clothes.

You can borrow them.

Re: Wartime Children's Evacuee Clothes?

My neice did something similar last year, although she was younger. I spent days searching round the charity shops for my sister and found something kinda suitable, that was at short notice too. They really should give people more time to prepare for these kinds of things.

Glad you managed to get sorted easier than I did

Yeah.. we got the letter yesterday

We knew she was learning about it but they never said they were doing a VE day, or would require outfits
If they would have said that at the beginning of the term then we could of sorted something sooner

Exactly, would be so much easier for the parents (look at me going on and mine arnt even of school age yet lol) just have whitnessed it so much with my sister and with her working full time and sometimes saturdays it doesnt give her a chance at all, which i why I ended up with these kind of tasks lol
