1 year for stealing 50,000
From South London Press
A bank manager was today sentenced to 1 year prison for stealing £48,500 from his bank using false accounts.
The defendant told the court he found it difficult to finance his 2 children at private school and pay off his mortgage, he told the court he could have sold his house but his wife did not wish to move!
The Judge when sentencing the defendant said "It is always sad for me to send a good man as yourself to prison"
One law for some but not the same for others methinks!!

I can only assume these people know they will get a light sentence.. I mean if you stole a few hundred quid from anyone you'll get a year.. like Arthur Fowler in East Enders got that and it killed him.

Re: 1 year for stealing 50,000
Probably doesnt include bank managers, but plenty of people would be willing to have a 6 months holiday for nicking 50k, not much chance of them earning that in a year, so could have 6 months off to spend it!

I don't think it's a class thing. I know of someone who stole over twelve grand form their employer, and they were only fined, and which they didn't pay.
