Still, you gotta admit that wasn't a bad bench-clearing brawl for this early in the season

Roger McGough thinks he's a toff
spouting disjointed words on the wireless
He gets paid for the crap, even raises a clap
from those who aspire to be clueless.

Re: 100-word short story competition
Harry Kissed Sally
The wedding dress hung over the wardrobe door.
The wedding bouquets… in buckets in the scullery.
The pies, sandwiches and cakes had been taken to the church hall,
A tea urn borrowed from the Mother’s league. Sally should be getting ready.
Putting on her dress, her veil. Walking down the aisle on the arm of her father.
Yet, she didn’t feel she could do it. Sam was a nice chap….but Harry (his best man) excited her
Was she going to accept second best?
It was going to be impossible now. Harry kissed her.
‘Dad, tell them the wedding’s off’
I know it took me quite a time...but I have been busy......honest

Re: 100-word short story competition
Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you
The Vet
Once hed walked with heroes, green titans striding through battlefields in foreign lands, young, proud and immortal. Like warrior kings of a bygone age, in their hands, the power over life and death by flicking a safety and the casual pressure on a trigger.
Their love and loyalty to one another unfettered, brothers bound by arms and the warriors creed, living, fighting and dying alongside each other. All this and so much more was their lot in this alien arid landscape until that fateful assault on the stronghold.
Now all he has is medal ribbons, a shattered body and memories.
pertinent, then, now & for the foreseeable future.

More haiku.
Eight year old eyes shine
Bright thunder spewing dark death.
Cowardly evil.

Re: 100-word short story competition
She sat in the gloom. How had it come to this ? One minute everything seemed bright, she could see clearly. Life was good, very good in fact. But slowly, very slowly darkness descended and now she was here, in this room staring in to the void that was now her life. Then suddenly as the water lashed against the windows the room filled with the brightest of light, armed with a squidgy and pair of marigolds Westend lass had finally cleaned her windows !!

Re: 100-word short story competition
After spending the day installing a printer to download a UPS return label, and disassembling and repackaging a heater, I thought, 'now I can print, I can send off an entry'.
On looking again at the website, email entries ARE acceptable - so I have sent the one called Fall Back
PS hope that putting it here doesn't disqualify me

Re: 100-word short story competition
Please do Margaret. Last year's comp was won by a non-Lancastrian - you are representing the county.

Re: 100-word short story competition
I have had mail today to say that the competition has been abandoned and my £2 will be refunded.
Only 23 entries were received, and the rules require 25.

That sucks ... we should have held our own competition. First prize could have been an AccyWeb coffee mug, second, a framed autographed picture of Less and Mick in the Railway, third, a cold bacon butty with lots of Branston Pickle on it. Same entry fee; although, for me, it would be three toonies.
