Re: 140m.p.h.
This young man is very lucky to have escaped with his hide intact.
This kind of behaviour is reprehensible...especially at the moment when there is so much publicity about young drivers having accidents.
He should NEVER be allowed behind the wheel again.

Re: 140m.p.h.
Would put him in prison, lock the door and throw away the key, for his own and other road users good

Re: 140m.p.h.
If it had said Eastbound, would have sworn was the guy who passed me a couple of weeks ago, driving at what must have been this type of speed on the M65 .. never seen anything like it! (and have seen some speed merchants in my time) .. Just couldn't believe it !! (used the 'f' word followed by 'hell' I can tell ya') Hope he got caught too.
The M65 is a hot spot for speeders, as reasonably quiet in the evenings, particularly in the Summer whilst still light.

katex lend me your car, it's still light and I fancy a burn, I promise I'll mention you when I get caught and the Telegraph asks me for details.

Re: 140m.p.h.
doing 140 mph is bad enough, but for this goon to be filming himself on the mobile phone.....he must have spit for brains.

The court was told that PC Michael Holt was travelling from Colne to Blackburn with his pregnant wife and 21-month-old son, in his silver Citroen, when he witnessed the scenes.........................She said: "His wife said, I can't believe he is filming himself on his phone' and he said, I can't believe it either.' "He tried to follow but the car was travelling at about 120mph and pulled away.

What sort of an idiot would try to follow a speeding car with his pregnant wife and young child in the car?

So what sort of speed did this policeman attempt to reach to catch the fool while he (the policeman), wasn't in a proper Police car? (It does seem a little bit silly that he risked his family in this manner).

Re: 140m.p.h.
if he was on the autobahn in germany nobody wouldve batted an eye lid, but the fact that he was steering and holding his mobile phone at the same time to film it is pretty horrendous.
140 miles an hour is dangerous but its the norm on some roadways, but the mobile phone thing i dont think anyone could comprehend doing.

Not very clear that; may not have put them at risk at all and travelled no more than the speed limit for ?? miles, before he withdrew.. bit ambiguous a report to comment methinks.
Less: Can borrow me car anytime .. just tin and rubber after all, but please don't mention me as a partner in the knowledge of a planned speed breaking attempt, wouldn't mind a mention in the Telegraph though .. being a drama queen like ... Hope the burn you state is the type of burn I am thinking about

Re: 140m.p.h.
Jail isn't the best place for him, we pay for it, he has everything he needs, comes out and will probably do it again but without showing it on youtube and risk getting caught again.
Best punishment is for him to travel in a police car for a month dealing with RTA's, he'll think twice about doing it again, we all call the cops but the scenes these guys deal with is horrific, i've seen quite a few bad ones and I wouldn't have gone near them

Re: 140m.p.h.
Mmmm, devils advocate here.
Where does it say that he was holding the phone? I have a holder that will hold my phone and film whereever I drive without me even touching or looking at it.
Secondly, ANYONE travelling at that speed is concentrating 120% on what they are doing. I can speak from experience. Depending on time/place/conditions/traffic (i.e. any or none) it can be perfectly safe to do 140. After all, police traf plod are trained to travel at that speed, racers do it all day, at the TT they are AVERAGING 120+ down normal A roads never mind 3 lane motorways. Now I believe this idiot was using hard shoulder etc which is stupidity but youth tends to give a false sense of skill.
I'll hold my hand up here and I can see my karma taking a hit for it but I bet a majority of people have hit 3 figures at some point, I've been faster, when young I did 155 down the A55 , it was at 3:30am and I was young and daft. I've been past 140 on a few occasions and TBH on todays motorcycles its surprisingly easy and in the right conditions safe. I'm a very good analyser of risk, I take all the conditions into account and make a decision from there. I'm not planning on getting to the next world any sooner than absolutely necessary but I will do what some will not like. he put others at risk and that is unacceptable in my book, but speed alone is not the sin some people like to make it out to be.
