£190 one off payment for mum's to be
For those of you that are pregnant or know of anyone who's pregnant, you may be entitled to a one off payment from the government of £190 if your baby is due on or after 6th April 2009.

It might well be, but I don't see why the hardpressed taxpayers of this country should have to fork out for it.

Re: £190 one off payment for mum's to be
There always was a Maternity Grant (based on a healthy NI contribution record by a woman or her husband.)
When I first had the job of paying it out in 1960 'bow and arrow' it was £25 which was a lot of money then

It's known as prostitution, or at least that's what I always thought that was definition of a woman getting paid to give a fook!
What's happened to equal rights? Why isn't the expectant Father also paid?

Yet another payment for having babies. What a stupid idea.

Less - I am sure that if the man was willing and able to bear the pain of labour, most women would gladly transfer the right to the cash

I wonder if that applies these days? Somehow, I doubt it!

Margaret, I not only had to bear the pain of childbirth, (twice), sharing the joyous moments of my childrens birth's, (without the benefit of gas and air), but I have had to listen for years, to their mothers exaggerated tales of how long she was in labour, each time she told it, it took to tell an extra hour! How would she know? she was stoned out of her head, I was the one going through it without the aid of artificial stimulants!
