That's the thing isn't it?It's all going too far.I believe that you won't be able to have a fag in your house if you've got workmen in because it's their workplace, you can't smoke in your car if you're giving a colleague a lift even if they are a smoker too! How that's going to be policed I don't know but why has it been taken to such silly levels?
My friend works in a prison and all the inmates can have a fag because prisons are exempt as it's their home but it doesn't apply to the staff. It's all wrong. From this Sunday if you have a fag in a public place you'll be fined, refuse to pay the fine and you'll be chased for it,refuse at all costs to pay the fine and the ultimate punishment for you will be prison.....where you'll be able to smoke to your heart's content

I know,I've got another friend who works in a nursing home and she was saying how she normally has a brew and a fag with one particular old lady on her break time but she won't be able to from next week. They'll be able to sit together and drink tea,the lady will still be allowed her fag but my friend won't,even though they'll be sitting next to each other in the same room! Where's the logic in that?

No

Smoking in English public places will be prohibited from 1 July, bringing the country into line with similar bans in Scotland and Wales, with a blanket ban on lighting up on all 1,900 station concourses, ticket halls, covered and uncovered platforms, footbridges and subways, as well as retail and food outlets.

The legislation will also apply to railway and station offices, canteens and workplace areas covered by the law, although smoking will be allowed on most station forecourts and in uncovered station parks.

Cool Re: 1st July 2007

Lets get one thing straight – it isn’t a ban on smoking in public places but a ban on smoking in ENCLOSED public spaces or in open spaces where the owner of the public open space declares it a smoke free zone. Hospital grounds, football grounds, railway stations etc.

Just an observation to all those smugly remarking that at long last they can go home without their clothes and hair smelling like an old ashtray. They will now go home with their clothes and hair smelling like an old car exhaust. When are you going to complain about that? If not why not?

I don't know if there's others wondering the same or if I'm just being a biff but why will people be smelling like old car exhausts?

Because the alleged clean air that we all breathe is heavily polluted by vehicle exhaust fumes.

You clothes and hair don’t stink of exhaust fumes Kisser because the fag pollutant masked it. Without the smell of tobacco smoke it won’t be long before your clothes and hair will smell like an old exhaust pipe.

Many years ago when my ex-wife worked in a chip shop during the evenings, she would come home smelling like a chip.
