£3000
was at a friends tonight and heard the last bit of the news
apparently failed asylum seekers are to be given £3000 to sod off back to where they came from
am i wrong in thinking they shuld be sent back with what the came with and if that happens to be sweet FA then so be it
a lot of asylum seekers come here claiming that they face death by some cruel regime or something so if this story is to be believed they dont need the money as they will be dead upon arrival back into their country so it is most likely this alleged evil regime will be £3000 better off for every returned failed asylum seeker they kill
considering how many people fail the asylum process i can only imagin how much money this is going to cost
how about putting the money into stopping them getting here in the first place instead of giving them amounts of money most hard working people cant even save after paying taxes to support these bums
edit:
asylum seeker - can i live in the uk please
uk - no you cant but heres £3000 to see you on your way
asylum seeker - thanx uk this will buy some guns and explosives my brothers further down the line can he have £3000 as well
i have no doubt this system will be abused by peopel wanting to make a quick 3 grand

Perhaps we need to declare Hyndburn to be an independant country then we can nip accross to Blackburn and claim the £3K each when they throw us back under P.B.'s Evil regime?

Re: £3000
Could I get it to go back to Scotland, even though I was deported?

Re: £3000
well regardless i seriously think the united kingdom has become an even more attractive place for asylum seekers its a win win situation even if they fail to be granted asylum they win
on bullseye you got BFH (buss fare home ) if you lost but if you fail to get asylum you get BFH plus a few grand

Re: £3000
I think it's ridiculous to give them handouts to go home. This Country has got to stop being a charity for others and start looking after its own. There is not enough cash to support the NHS, Education or Pensionrs e.t.c so the Government would have us believe. So how is there money to pay people to leave?
I think this Country of ours has long since paid for it's past rape and pillage of far off Countries and it's now time to stop supporting others and look after our own.

Re: £3000
I do think it's daft, but if failed asylum seekers go underground, and then reappear a year or so later married with a child, the chances of being granted asylum at appeal would increase.
In the long term the three grand might be the cheaper option, still doesn't make it any more palatable though.

Re: £3000
Failed asylum seekers aren't only getting 2-3 grand, they also get accommodation and free healthcare. I have no objection to providing healthcare to whoever needs it, but it should not be free for non-British nationals. By providing expensive treatments free of charge to asylum seekers and freeloaders eg. HIV treatment we are denying many British nationals new treatments such as Herceptin etc, because it is deemed too expensive.

Re: £3000
If they are genuine then fair enough but not the ones that are looking just for free health treatment. As lettie says patients are turned down for drugs because they cannot be afforded yet they still spend the money on health tourists because its not "politically coreect" or convenent to say no. All those who fail should be returned as soon as the case is over which the way things are could be years. Sometimes children are involved and it becomes more complicated. There will never be an easy answer as at one time immigration was encouraged to make up labour shortfalls and has been around in one form or other since the days of the empire. We cannot fix overnight what has been around for hundreds of years without banging our heads in frustration. The questions that I think of under this situ are in no particular order;
1, If we did not have the welfare system we do would their be fewer?
2, Would the stance that the USA has with green cards help?
3, What would the world as a whole say if we just shut up shop and did a China or Japan of the 17C?
4, Is the govenment really doing enough to solve this problem?
5, Can we support mass imigration financialy without hurting essential services?
6, Are other countries doing enough for genuine cases or just parceling them to the UK.
7, Can we be sure that some of those sent back are not going to be harmed as they claim if the authorities get it wrong?
8, What about the children that have been born here while their parents fought for asylum?
9, Is the UK seen as an easy touch?
10, How much of this mess is down to human rights?

Re: £3000
We should not be giving these people who have been refused entry anything. They should be sent home and that should be an end to it. The whole notion is a disgrace.
I certainly resent my taxes being given away to these people!
