It was decent of you to put this on the forum , Margraret .

Some independent elderly people may have a grumble at being asked if they need help , but it's still worth asking . Last week two old people were found dead in their garden in Cumbria . It's best to get a bit of stick than see that happen .

I notice that the ones offering help are usually getting on a bit themselves , like Ken Hargreaves with Jaysay . They are the salt of the earth in my opinion .

I'm no spring chicken myself, and I guess there are those who would consider me a candidate for help......but I am fit and able, and as such I feel it is good to help those who accept help.

My dear old Ma is in her 80's and disabled, but has the attitude of someone in their 30's...however she knows her limitations and over the years has become accepting of the fact that she needs help when the weather is as bad as it has been.

Re: A polite Request.

Prompted me to think about all my neighbours, Margaret. Luckily, no one is in this situation, having good family members and partners... 'cept me of course.

I am fine at the moment as have family who care and have decent heating and the ability to still drive and do my shopping, etc.

Tell you what though ... if ever I were in trouble .. would log onto Accyweb, and know there would be lots of members on here that would offer any assistance.

You are right Kate.......and that is the very reason that I put this request on here....because I know just how good the members are, and how unselfishly they give whatever is needed......as I said, Salt of the earth.

I did my bit this morning for an elderly person.
I drove past Stanleymad walking down Willows Lane so I phoned her and asked if she wanted a lift

She didn't want a lift, she would have been safer in the car than walking on those foot paths. I was in Rhonda's car and its really good in this weather, much better than mine.
