A polite Request.

I know that Accyweb members are the salt of the earth.......and that is why I post this request.
Please, if you have elderly/infirm neighbours, could you please check that they are alright?
That they are warm and have bread, milk and the everyday items that they need.

It is easy to forget them during this busy time, but during this cold snap they may need a little bit of help.
I know that some of you will not need this reminder.
Many thanks in advance.....you will be rewarded......somewhere along the line.

I know I don't class myself as being old, the kids regularly tell me I am, but its surprising just how kind people are really, on the first day it snowed this week think it was Wednesday, I had no fewer that 4 phone calls asking if I was okay and if I needed anything, luckily I am okay in that department, but is great to know people think of you in these times, oh and one was Ken Hargreaves

I'm pleased you are being looked after John.
And in these snowy times you don't have to be 'old' to need a hand.

When is someone classed as elderly and infirm.
I'm knocking 80, need a stick to walk, but I'll not
be appreciating any body knockin on my door,
an very few know my telephone number, if I've
nowt to eat thats my fault.

Re: A polite Request.

Well, Retlaw, because you do not appreciate someone knocking to find out if you are alright, it doesn't mean that others wouldn't appreciate a bit of help.
We all know the folk in our own area, and if we see them out and about we know that they are alright........but do we really want to read about someone being dead in their home for weeks and no-on appearing to know(or care for that matter).

And it might not be your fault if you have nothing to eat......if someone does knock on your door to find out if you Ok, be thankful that you were thought about......you can politely say 'thank you for your concern, I am fine'......it costs nothing.

I am not a 'do-gooder' just a neighbourly person who cares about those in my own community.

There is no set age when some becomes elderly/infirm......it varies.
However, I do know those people in my own area who find it hard to get about when there is no snow about....these are the people who I would check on and get a bit of shopping if they wanted it, or help to clear their path of snow, anything that makes their life a bit easier(and safer).

Maybe it is my Nursing background that makes me think of them.
