A story to warm the cockles of your heart.

A 70 year-old British pensioner, trained in martial arts during his military service, dispatched a gang of four would-be muggers in a late-night attack in Germany.

"Looks like he had everything under control," a police spokesman from the German town of Bielefeld said of the incident last Friday.

The man, a native of Birmingham who now lives in Germany, was challenged by three men, demanding money, while a fourth crept up behind him. Recalling his training, the Briton grabbed the first assailant and threw him over his shoulder.

When a second man tried to kick him, the pensioner grabbed his foot and tipped him to the ground. At this point, the three men, thought to be aged between 18 and 25, fled, carrying their injured accomplice with them.

The pensioner, whose name was not immediately available, suffered light abrasions.

Well, some of our older citizens are not pussies, it seems.

This is my favorite story of the week. Would like to shake this gentleman's hand. Just as well he didn't try it in England, though. Might have been done for using disproportionate force.

A female pensioner here in England was on TV the other day - she'd been in a similar position, under attack. She had defended herself and ended up spending time in prison for assault.

What about the elderly lady who while walking her dog was mugged and her handbag snatched.
She had the last laugh though as it was an old handbag that she used soley for collecting her doggie pooh!
I would love to have seen the thief's face when his greedy eyes peered into the bag !!!

It is a bit like the story about a friend of mine.
We were both expecting at the same time, and visited the clinic together.
She had been shopping in Preston and she had put her urine sample in her basket.....the urine sample was in a miniature whisky bottle...full to the top.
When she got to the clinic she was asked for her sample of wee. She searched her basket but it was missing.......I would love to have seen the face of the person who pinched it, as they took a good swig of the early morning sample.
