Re: A Taste For The Unusual?
As a kid in West End my favourite snack was a toasted crust from the end of a loaf spread with strawberry jam, a cheese slice and sliced banana on top. As a very small child I used to like celery dipped in sugar!
I now enjoy strong cheddar cheese and lumpfish caviar (only £2 a jar - not the expensive caviar) sandwiches and I eat Vegemite by the spoonful straight from the jar - can't stand it on bread!

Re: A Taste For The Unusual?
Chocolate and crisps together work out surprisingly well.
When I'm making a proper chilli, I always add a few chunks of a good dark chocolate - makes it very rich.
SOUP (shop on warner st) do a splendid cheese and red onion marmalade sandwich. The sweetness of the marmalade works really well with a strong cheddar - definitely recommended.
Also, pea and ham soup with chips thrown in work for me.
As for crisp butties - I prefer them made with Walkers Sensations Roast Chicken flavour crisps personally!

Re: A Taste For The Unusual?
I was in ASDA once and this guy in the Q behind me had a trolly full of 'Good for you' this and that ready meals all shouting 'Less than 4%fat' from their boxes. As I turned round I noticed something the shelf and turned to Julie and said quite loudly ' Have you seen that, Turkish Delight is being promoted at 98% fat free. Thats because its 98% SUGAR!!!'
The guy behind went a shade of red
So Gayle, Ignore teh 'Fat Free' fad, look at the overall healthiness of your food. Take into account calorific value, Fibre and make an informed decision from there.
I personally like jerky(Dried meat) as it is very flavoursome, low in fat and carbs and keeps forever.

Re: A Taste For The Unusual?
I love dunking bacon butties, with mushrooms and brown sauce, into coffee. It's a bit like dunking a biscuit, but with soggier results if you get the timing wrong.
I don't have sugar in my coffee. That would be disgusting.

The bacon and peanut butter sarnie sounds good...
My all time favourite disgusting sandwich consists of fish fingers mashed with vinegar, peanut butter and brown sauce slapped between 2 slices of Warbies. They're delicious...

Re: A Taste For The Unusual?
I know someone who eats kippers with marmalade.
Oxo butties are great - I love them, but haven't had one for ages. Must buy a packet of Oxo cubes. Also good is a sandwich made with strong Lancashire cheese and a crumbled Oxo cube.
Chocolate in chilli works very well, good with a rich beef or venison stew as well, just one square of really good dark chocolate. Gayle, why torment yourself! - convince yourself that you LOVE cottage cheese!
