There have been numerous successful NDP governments in Canada, especially in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia. They even had control in Ontario from 1990 until 1995. This was not all that successful; but, they did inherit an empty treasury from the previous government (shades of Hyndburn ), and had to deal with the worst economic times to hit Ontario since the Great Depression. At present, the NDP govern the Province of Manitoba, and are doing a great job. They form the official opposition in the Federal Parliament. They are the strongest force in the belle province, replacing the seperatistes of the Bloc Quebecois. And even though Canadians elected a tory government, Jack Layton is by far and away the most popular political leader in Canada, and the one whom Canadians seem to trust the most.
