Re: abandoned children

I watched some of it Absolute discrace. It was about disabled children in bulgaria who had been abandoned by there parents because there parents either couldnt be botherd with them, didnt like the child or just could look after them or afford things to there needs. Bulgaria had the most figures on abandoning children in the world. It was absolute horrible to watch (thats why i only watched a little bit). It showed children who where disabled and showed where the kids where kept and they where kept in homes with just a bed really. No luxurys! And then i stopped watching because i couldnt watch any more really. Hope i shed a light on it a bit.

Re: abandoned children

I watched it and was heart broken, those poor children, most of the children had been abandoned just for being blind or deaf. There was what were the "walkers" and those who couldnt walk mainly down to malnutrition there was around 75-80 children in this home the children couldnt talk they didnt know how they had never been spoken to! The carers( so called!) would only bath/shower dress and feed the children and change the nappies all the children sat in silence and rocked some sat on the potty for hours on end it saw 1 girl go in and she was led to believe her mum was going to come for her but that was never to be and there was nothing wrong with her except she was slightly autistic she would talk and everything and as the programme went on you saw her disintigrate and basicaly go mad she started sitting and rocking just like the rest of them.

They were fed the same slop everyday and thats how they became malnutritioned no vitimins no variation of food it was just shovelled into their mouths and then on to the next child, they looked like babies even though they were teens, they had no toys to play with alot of them couldnt even walk! One little girl was left with a broken leg and she was soo thin you could see the break in her leg and when the documentry lady asked about the leg the carers just said well its one of the side effects of her illness being so thin makes the bones brittle and warpped the poor child was screaming in pain while they changed her nappy and all they did was say ok, ok ill be done in a minute!

It was terrible i could not believe the conditions these children were kept in 2 boys helped with the laundry every day and everyday the male carer used to beat them neither child could talk so couldnt tell what was going on. The teenage girls were showered by male staff they would walk around naked until they were showered they got left to dry without towels then they had to pick from a bundle of clothes that belonged to the room where they slept.

It was awful really awful and the carers thought it was fine and as long as the children were fed and washed then they were ok.

Re: abandoned children

i watched the programme too, such a shame, those poor children have no life there its a long and painful death place, one poor girl who was 13 looked 7 had nothing wrong with her when she went into the home, now she is on nappies can no longer walk and is in serious pain with a broken leg and their cure was to put cream on her feet !!! what kind of people are these who are suppose to be taking care of these children, these kids were starving, didnt look like the carers were though, they had their own cemetary, that should be saying something for the place, most of the children could not walk/talk all it would have taken was someone to spend a bit of time with the children to teach them, when the children get into adulthood (thats if they survive that long) they are moved to an adult care home were their seems to be no carers. i hope more programmes are made like this, the governments may not see it as an out of sight out of mind situation and actually help them

Re: abandoned children

This is in Bulgaria? This is supposed to be a civilised country? How can we regard a country on equal terms if they see nothing wrong with treating children like this?

Re: abandoned children

Is Soyab the little blind boy who was sent to hospital for tests? If so, I wanted to keep him too. What can be done about it? At the end of the programme they said various charities had tried to gain access, but were refused.

For most of the programme, I watched open mouthed, shocked and in disbelief. It goes without saying that I cried too.

Re: abandoned children

Wow strong stuff . Im glad in a way i didnt see it . I would have been heartbroken . i was in tears watching it on the news .
Why turn charities away ?? you,d think they would welcome the help . seems to me its the carers that need institutionalizing .. those poor poor children .
I agree it should be brought to light so that something has to be done .
