Re: Accrington Observer this Friday (30 Dec)

Am a little confused about the dog rescue drama. In the Observer it says it was at Foxhill Bank lodge, off Market Street in Church. At exactly the same time yesterday, as quoted in the paper 1.30pm, the fire brigade were rescuing a dog at Foxhill nature reserve in Oswaldtwistle.

Coincidence, or sloppy journalism?

I know it's Christmas, and you deserve a holiday, but way to many photographs, and the four pages of holiday adverts went straight into the bin.

As well as being highly entertained by the ducks slipping and sliding on 'my' lodge today, watched this huge ginger tom walk ever so tentatively around the edges trying to sniff out some prey from under the banking. Four paws forward, two paws back, however, who says cats are more stupid than dogs. Could tell was very aware of the dangers and arrived across the other side safe and sound.

No, it didn't, but I'm interested to know anyways. Pm me with the details.

I wrote the story and what you've said has got me thinking.

We got the story from the Lancashire Fire Service website, which has an uptodate incident log, which read:

Dog fallen through ice
28th December 2005, 1:36pm
Incident number: 2585
Number of appliances: 6
Address:
Market St
Church

I had 10 minutes to get the details from the fire brigade and write the story before the press (hence why we won't have a cute dog picture until next week).

The LET reported it as Market Street, Oswaldtwistle.

It appears I did get the wrong location. If I have, I apologise...but I was simply going off the fire people's information.

Re: Accrington Observer this Friday (30 Dec)

I can’t believe that they sent six appliances, that’s what 30 men putting there lives at risk? Although I have little doubt that it would have been seen as a training opportunity for the lads, next time it could be a child and I suppose the experience could pay dividends.

I can't believe you've just said that - I hope you're a bit more compassionate when it comes to the furry little critters that you're in charge of in Rhyddings Park!
