Accrington, USA

I was searching for something else earlier but serendipity turned up this

6633 Accrington Ct, Charlotte, NC 28227 MLS# 2059571

Now why on earth should a street in North Carolina bear the name of Accrington? I checked to see if there was a Burnley Way or Blackburn Drive nearby but no - most of the surrounding streets bear Latin American names!

I lived in the States for a year in 1973/4 and was based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina but I never visited Charlotte otherwise I might have had more idea about this, except this house wasn't built till 1983.

Re: Accrington, USA

Maybe it's called Accy Court because the houses are dirt cheap. That one advertised works out at £38,000pds...not much, but it looks much better than what you would get in Accy at that price. I wonder what a two up, two down terraced house in Charlotte with direct street access and chav neighbours either side would go for? Maybe $50?

Re: Accrington, USA

Well, so much for Accy Court......but if you're a real posh knob in Charlotte then the only place to be is Church Rd...or rather, Prosperity Church Rd.

I do believe there there is a Chyte Creek Oswaldtwistle somewhere in Charlotte.

Don't you go working yourself up, and giving yourself one of your queer turns.

You already know, Oswaldtwistle, and all it's people are totally unique.

Forget Ossy, and start writing your c.v. out.

I've found you a job, in this town.

If needed, I'll give you a reference, and happily tell them that you'd be right at home in the Nut House.

Good find Susie.

Join up, tell them they're currently under discussion, and ask if anyone knows why they have an Accrington Court...and then enquire if they want to be twinned with Accy Web.

We'd better start saving up now for the charabanc, to take us over there for the first joint meet-up.

Haha it had crossed my mind that there might be a forum. Trouble is, I spend too much time on Accyweb as it is - dont want to lay myself open to another one!

Don't worry, I've deputised for you, and we now have our own thread, asking if anyone knows why there's an Accrington Court, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Accrington Court, Charlotte, N.C,? - City-Data Forum

Now we'll just have to wait, to see if there's a North Carolean version of Atarah, or Retlaw, to furnish us with some historical fact.

Quite rural.

For some reason I was expecting colonial town houses.

What, for sixty thousand dollars? It's not dissimilar to the two houses I lived when I was in Chapel Hill. And it is in the suburbs...
