That's boring it was much more fun when certain people thought it was a BNP pub.
Mr Harris nothing personal just having a bit of fun on a wet boring Sunday, I've nothing against Poles coming over and doing jobs that can't or won't be filled by us natives, its when they arrive and take jobs that can be filled by us, example my workplace where 50 where made redundant and then the jobs appeared again to be filled by poles, can you see why I'm a little bitter?

Re: ACCYWEB Meeting Venue?
The centre-half's place at Stanley could be filled by an English player, but if Marcin Staniek turns out to be a success, I bet you'll be cheering him along with the rest of us on the Clayton End! However, I'm seriously thread-wandering now. If he does sign on, I'm sure we'll have a longer argument about it then!
Like the explanation about the Union Flag, Sparky. Really puts paid to Rosebud's somewhat more sinister theory!

Sparky's input did indeed bring clarification. The original post was however not 'sinister' it was a question.

Not just a question, but a statement, too. And to imply that Accyweb meetings are held in pubs frequented by rightwing extremist groups is, in my view, a sinister implication.

This comes directly from the horses mouth, so to speak; Staggeringman, the ex-landlord of The Stag, with whom I shared a pint, last night. The clue is in the first sentence: "strategically".
The pub dates back to the early 15th century, as mentioned elsewhere on Accyweb. Old buildings leak and the flag was put up to hide a damp patch from view, on an outside wall of the pub.
So perhaps prejudices regarding the Union Jack can be put to bed.

ER Thats what i said back in post 67
"They had the flags up all year round (i think it was to cover damp patches)"

But that looks more like a gay pride march.
I am sure the Nazis would not have inspired the same terror if they had adopted the collar and bow tie and no shirt look

Re: ACCYWEB Meeting Venue?
Oooh I just remembered something. We've got one of those stick on England flag things under the full length mirror in our caravan.
Nothing to do with BNP or football, more to do with the fact that it's a flimsy wooden panel and somebody banged a table leg into it when putting the fold up tables away in the cupboard next to it so rather than have a panel with a hole in, and those stick in thingies were on sale on Carnforth market, I bought one and stuck it over the hole!
