Acorn-ring-town !
Would having a ring of trees around the town encourage anyone to be more Environmentally Aware ? Waste of cash if you ask me.
Have they made the acorn- ring thing up

Not as much as a few turrets, sub machine guns and barbed wire

Re: Acorn-ring-town !
i wouldnt think it is a waste of time since accy is surrounded by motorway we should compensate with trees as they are the earths lungs and we might be able to breath a bit better.......

Re: Acorn-ring-town !
We've got some pathetic looking oak trees on Broadway. It would be nice to have a few more, preferably of the native variety, in strategic locations around the borough.
Just had a horrible thought though - If they are to be located in districts such as Rishton, Clayton, Ossy etc and form a ring of oaks could this be a way of reinforcing a certain person's intention to rename the whole of the borough Oak-Ring-Town (and districts)?

Re: Acorn-ring-town !
I really must pay attention when I'm in town, I've never noticed any trees on Broadway - Stevie Wonder or wot

If a few Oak trees get planted in that area, then, I’m sure the issue will be resolved

Re: Acorn-ring-town !
It would only be a good idea if the council met in the middle of the circle of trees, like the druids did, and save on the cost of heating the Town Hall/Scaitcliffe House.

Close Cyfr. It's actually a mythical land off the coast of Ireland, dwelling place of the Sidhe or fairy folk. The name literally translates as 'Land of Youth' or 'Land of the Young'. Those who lived there never suffered any illness and grew old. Oisin, the son of Finnmac Cumhal, (Finn MacCool) fell in love with Niamh who was the daughter of the King of Tír na nÓg and he went with her to her land with tragic consequences.
