Im afraid I've got to pass on some very sad news.

Just had the Adoption Agency Committee on the phone.

Because of the views you've stated, the same sex couple who expressed an interest in you, no longer wishing to proceed with the adoption.

Mandy and Candy have asked me to pass on their good wishes to you for your future, and wish you better luck next time.

I'd like to pass on my own commiserations.

I know you're bound to feel gutted.

Would they be interested in adopting a rather sad, flea bitten old Donkey, maybe ? (PLEASE)

I'll make enquires.

Though you'll have to promise that if Mandy and Candy do adopt you, you won't be influenced by them, and become a lesbian yourself.

If by that you mean thinking of doing dastardly things with females, I think I might already be one !

Re: Adoption

TBH I dont think about it(oh some great charles bukowski there) but nah I don't really have an opinion about this. But i know this much. There are a lot of children oprhaned and in need of good homes and to be actively against same sex couples from adoption you are trying to stop these children from a chance of having a good home, or at least slowing down the process.

Re: Adoption

I have read this thread through with some interest - as a biological scientist (in my studies) and as a mother and as a human being. It has degenerated into a "tit-for-tat" exchange at some point as those involved seem to have no new arguments to add to the discussion.

There seems to be a blurring of boundaries and definitions with regard to gender, sexuality and sex. The most importanty factor, of which I am a champion is Love (with a capital "L") and that seems to be absent from the discussion.

A child who is raised with Love will be sure of itself and be able to face the challenges life poses with self-esteem. The people who raise such a child are to be lauded.

The fact that science continues to investigate the question of sexuality implies in itself an innate homophobia in society.

I personally admit to some confusion in my own sexuality in my early teens, as i think is common to many. The love I felt for a friend in my teens is held today but was found to be non-sexual.

I presently feel "Love" for many people: My parents, a heterosexual couple: My beloved aunt and uncle, idem; the earlier mentioned friend; my children, whose sexuality i would accept however it turned out to be; those who have been "sexual" partners in my young life - of either of the three orientations; a very special friend who is homosexual...and many others.

It is important to champion "Love" as the essence of any family whatever it's composition and to break down the barriers that lead to the pigeon-holing of individuals into "normal" and therefore as an opposite - abnormal...

Life is too short to be ruined by the constrictions of a puritanical society. So many children are in need of people who are willing to raise them and give them love, whatever their gender, sexual inclination or age.

"Reality leaves a lot to the imagination." John Lennon

Re: Adoption

Seems Cameron has appointed an adoptions guru -perhaps it will change a few of the current restrictions...
