All aboard the Gravy Train!!!!!
Here's a good one. A couple of weeks ago we all received, with our Council Tax Demands, a couple of shiny leaflets from County Hall telling us how our money was being spent. One of these was from Lancashire Constabulary. I threw my copy straight in the bin so I cannot quote figures, but the general tenor of the document was that the Constabulary were going to charge us more this year than last for the privilege of having forces boy racers rushing up and down the county's highways in their flashy vehicles with the go faster stripes, the flashing lights and the really neat sirens that go woo-wooo! We were going to have to pay more towards their pensions and we were also going to have to pay more to have them tell us what a really super job they were doing even though they could not spend as much of our hard earned money as they would like to.
Now it seems they have found a way round this unfortunate little problem
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle1654994.ece
I suppose that if the borough council can charge us twice for removing our rubbish it should come as little surprise that we should have to pay three times for the police.
Who's next on the taxation gravy train? The Fire Service? The Ambulance Service? Social Workers???????

Expect a fine in the post in the next few days, for admitting to not recycling all paper products, even if it was rubbish.

Re: All aboard the Gravy Train!!!!!
If the bin police root through your bin and find something that should have been recycled, they can do you for it, that's why the chips are there to weigh or identify what proportion of your rubbish you are recycling, and charge you accordingly by the kilo. The only reason they are not doing it here at present is certain Southern Counties are doing a pilot scheme, and the rest are awaiting the results. As for the Police investigating any crime, the only thing you need them for is the Insurance claim, as they are too busy investigating themselves, but reading the article no prizes for guessing where priorities will be applied, yet again.

Re: All aboard the Gravy Train!!!!!
I’ll bet that car thieves and so called joy riders are rubbing their collective hands with glee safe in the knowledge that the chances of getting caught have just plummeted.
Carrying this latest scam to its logical conclusion will the next of kin have to pay to have their murdered family member’s death investigated forensically?
What was that phrase about lunatics and the asylum? It seems applicable here.

Not according to Peter Britcliffe. A few months ago he told me that at the time HBC thought it was a bad idea that could encourage some people to fly tip to avoid paying for the extra rubbish they have.
It might be forced on us by Government though.

I think this is from DEFRA Neil and not in PBs hands.

Just plain rubbish. (I am sorry Ian but you do this a lot)
1. I voted when the recycling scheme was put in (with chips in bins). The main reason was cost. The price of bins with chips was barely more than that of without. How can you start a scheme and decide against any form of monitoring on how well your doing. Plain stupid. In plain English, the chips allowed us to see how crap or good we were doing. Something any good business would do.
Furthermore it has been discussed by Labour Councillors that the chips may afford a discount to residents who do recycle. That's what we looked at. That's completely different than charging per weight.
That's all in the past now of course because...
2. Hyndburn is to get a well publicised recycling plant that will recycle 90%+. I don't even think all the remainder goes to landfill either. The only question is how much cheaper per tonne is the recycling plant compared to the cost per tonne in future landfill charges and will we go back to weekly collections with it not being pre-seperated anymore?

Try reading some more informative organs beside the Accrington Observer. You may then be in a position to talk plain rubbish, as you say I do, why put the chips in in the first place, if their isn't some hidden agenda. You may attemt to bull**** your way out of this, on this forum, but do not try my patience with double talk. You are a looser and not fit to polish Tim O Kanes Boots, any further information can be supplied by PM only.
