Am I missing something here?
The Mayor Making Ceremony, due to be held next Saturday, appears to be taking on a life of its own. We are now to be indulged with four days of celebrations to mark this event.
Can anyone tell me what is so damn special about the Mayor Making this year that it requires Four Days of celebrations? If memory serves, the end of WWII only merited Two days, HM The Queen's Silver and Golden Jubilee's one day each.

Re: Am I missing something here?
I think it's a Conservative Mayor this year so as we have a Conservative Council they obviously think it's a really important thing. Last year's Mayor making event was one day but of course, it was a Labour Mayor.

Re: Am I missing something here?
I agree it does seem excessive, and Mr P.B. seems to be milking it for all it's worth, like Purple Lass said probably for political reasons.
Who is paying for it- need l ask?
The Lord Mayor of London's parade only lasts a morning, yet we are to have four days of fun and frivolity, can hardly wait.

Re: Am I missing something here?
Maybe that's where the £35,000 mentioned in the tory Accy thread is going. 4 days is way too excessive for mayor making. I can think of hundreds of better things to spend money on in this borough. Getting the streets clean would be on the top of that list.
