Re: Amy's Law

I have seen the case of Amy Houston on the news and in the papers on several occasions. My heart goes out to her family who were prematurely robbed of their child at the hands of an incompetent system. It's no wonder that the BNP are making headway in securing votes and council places when it is so obvious that our current system is so heavily biased towards the offender and the victims are expected to just pull themselves together and get on with it. The sentence received by Mr Ibrahim is laughable, I bet his defence team were patting themselves on the back and ordering double brandies. They should be ashamed of themselves.

It is actually concerning the deficiencies and contradictions of the law and it's application.

Where's the racism bit come in? The debate is about road safety and the misdirection of penal policy, surely?

Re: Amy's Law

in my view i think that myself and some of my colleagues are being sectioned out by hbc taxi inspectors as easy pickings. because on speaking to one of them he told me they have to issue these written warnings as a part of showing the higher members of the said hierarchy that they are actually doing their job

How wonderfully Socialist. Puts you in mind of the glory days of the Soviet Union doesn't it . I am sure that comrade Stalin must be beaming.

I think the racism bit came in with the opening paragraph of post 1. It's the fact that the driver who killed Amy is an asylum seeker which has led to the question would he have received the same sentence had he been a member of the indigenous population?

Disqualified driver, no tax, no insurance, hit and run .............. and only a four month custodial sentence? How many other such cases have there been? Merely leaving the scene usually leads to major repercussions without all the rest on top.
