I've still got a grey army blanket that was issued to my brother when he started his National Service in 1951, and it wasn't new when he got it. I don't know how he managed to keep it! It was used as an emergency blanket for extra guests first by my mother then, later, by me. About 20 years ago it was downgraded to a dog blanket and was still being used up to our Jet's demise 18 months ago. It's a little frayed at the edges but otherwise in good nick.

A square brass wall plaque entitled mother, with an embossed picture of an old woman in a rocking chair and an accompaning verse, also fathers shoe brushes from his RAF day's he joined in 1934.

Just wondering how many of you think that your offspring will want all this owd stuff when they are doing the clean out and scavaging for the policies , give me a break when was the last time you knew of someone under 40 using a shoe brush and Cherry Blossom ?, chuck them on back of the fire ...... shoe polish comes in aerosol spray cans these days.
Think the owdest thing in my place is my LP record collection , anything of any value the kids got their hands on years ago for 'safe keeping' in case I was robbed

You got it all in one there who will want what they haven't already aquired for safe keeping.
