Re: Another one bites the dust
The Roebuck in Rishton has now closed, hopefully temporarily, due to the brewery/management company not budging on fittings.
Charging over £700 per month for kitchen appliances that have not been passed and cannot be used until they say so is really helping the tenants, isn't it?
Free houses and Wetherspoons are the way forward for our pubs, it's the only decent option left.

Re: Another one bites the dust
Enterprise Inns and it's a shame that this situation has come about because in terms of layout it is the best pub in the village. Open fire, very good smoking area, plenty of lounge and dining space plus a piano!
It would have made an absolutely ideal eating house and precisely what the tenants were aiming for but couldn't get the support from the management.

Symptomatic behaviour of most of the major chains now, John.
Squeeze every penny out of the decent pubs until the tenants pack up and leave, ship in someone 'temporary' then shut altogether after six months and blame the taxation system. Many of them seem to have slipped in an extra layer of management as well for some bizarre reason.
It seems to me that they make so much money from supermarket sales that pubs are too much of a headache but if something is turning you a profit and keeping people happy why fiddle with it?
