Another special thanks to HBC
At Christmas HBC decided to collect the bins early but neglected to inform the residents so not only do we have bins piled up with the 2 weeks rubbish prior to Christmas but we also have all the rubbish from Christmas in bags and more piling up as collection isnt due until next week.
Hope the fines for extra bags arnt implimented as the whole close will be in trouble.
Anyone else in the ossy area get caught out through not been notified of the change in collection date ?
Must be another cost cutting exercise not sending notification out of the changes

Re: Another special thanks to HBC
Was it a different Christmas collection to previous years? If not, sounds as if the Close had a case of collective amnesia.

collections are usually after xmas day so people arnt lubered with the extra crap for 2 weeks, infact this is the first time there hasnt been a collection soon after xmas day.Besides they cant have a set day as each year xmas eve changes what day it is on.As far as anyone knew teh bins still went out on monday which woud have been boxing day so were thinking the day after at least.
Seems to be guess work when collections will occur

Mine too, they called before Christmas, I forgot to put my bin out.
They called again just before new year, I forgot to put my blue box out.
Everything just as normal.

Re: Another special thanks to HBC
Think mostly it was mon collections that were affected as it fell on boxing day and the tuesday was a bank hol too. I knew to put mine (recycling) out on the Saturday (xmas eve) only due to still using the HBC calendar but could see no one else on the street had and couldn't tell anyone as it was about 1.30 in the morning when I did it. However the New year bank hol (yesterday) they collected (refuse) as normal!!
So their argument will be that they had notified everyone by way of the 2 year calendar even though that calendar was sent out over a year ago and sure majority of people don't still have it.

We still have the calendar pinned inside a kitchen cupboard in case we need reminding which bin week it is. Makes me smile that HBC plan these collections 2 years in advance and inform people and then people moan because they dont check the collection day over holiday periods.

Hmm, going to have to dig the calender out of my white sack.
I put it there yesterday, being efficient I'd taken it down as I'd thought it was now out of date, would you believe it though, it was still showing September the month I'd finally got the thing onto the wall.

Ours was on November still when I looked at it today to see if 2012 was on it. I only look at it to remind me which bin to put out and its not often I can't tell by how full the grey bin is. It lives on the back of a cupboard door, its not pretty enough to be on the wall.
The bin thing only made me laugh because the recycling calendar has been mentioned many times on here before.
