Cashy, would your bin be normally emptied on Friday 1st Jan. If it is then they should be emptying them on the Saturday 2nd Jan. That's according to my information anyway.

It's even odder then, as they've been in the area, and only done selected areas.

The bumph have got says recyclable and none recyclable materials on that day.
They don't tend to leave people without a bin collection for three weeks.

Re: anyone know how to get in touch with teh bin men over teh holidays
Cashy, if you had read your calendar correctly, they were making an earlier domestic rubbish collection on your road on Saturday, 19th December.
The recycling was December 18th. Next one for domestic rubbish is, as you said 8th January. Ok .. nearly 3 weeks for domestic rubbish . you drew the short straw. Re-cycling collection for you is Jan. 2nd.
Anyway, don't forget the Christmas tree collections :

This is interesting too :
'We will help you to manage
your household waste by removing up to a further two sacks of non-recyclable
waste on your first collection day of the New Year only.'

It is weekly in a way TD .. just different type rubbish fortnightly.
I really don't think that HBC will be looking at all rubbish collections weekly .. anyway, I think this works for now .. all dependent on what type of equipment we have at the tips which costs money, which, in turn, puts up your council tax.

I think it's unlikely here in Hyndburn. A couple of Local Authority's in Lancashire have gone back to a weekly collection. But the majority are on fortnightly collections.
The whole emphasis now is on recycling.

Re: anyone know how to get in touch with teh bin men over teh holidays
Less, I may be a overpaid coach driver, But...... There are terrorists who would love to blow my plane up. I don't recall a bin man going to work and his wife wondering if he will be killed. If I make a mistake at work I can kill at least 200 people. I think I deserve the money I get.
Yes it is not as much manual labour as a Bin Man, but that said a Boeing is still pretty heavy and if you lose the Hydraulics you have to no power helping you love the controls, Which wth a 70 tonne aircraft travelling at 5°° Mph is pretty dammed stressful.
I don't wish the bin men any harm. Merry Christmas
