Anyone see the live Honda Advert?

Quote:
Channel 4 has staged an ambitious live television advert during an episode of Come Dine With Me.
A team of skydivers had just three minutes and 20 seconds to spell out a message to viewers in a series of formations over Madrid.
The expert team included European champion Phil Curtis with four world and nine national champions.
Though the jump was successful, it had a taped back-up in case bad weather prevented the jump.
I'm just trying to find a link to it online

It would've given them better publicity if they had used all the money they spent on that rather pointless advert to help starving children in Africa. Oh well.

I liked the idea behind it,it was certainly different and made me take notice but like shakermaker said the money could be put to better use.
I doubt Honda will sell more cars on the back of it anyway.

but it wouldn't have sold any cars.
Shaker your conscience is touching, but big business is in the game for business and profits...not good deeds...and we do not know if Honda do support charity...maybe they do and don't talk about it.

Why not?
The focus for the vast majority of advertisements these days is being green or helping the world because (annoyingly) it's fashionable. I believe using the money for better causes instead of a pointless advert would have spawned more free publicity with newspapers reporting on it; giving Honda a good name. Obviously nothing can be done about it now but I wish people were less amazed by pointlessly expensive adverts and more angered at what the money could've been used for.

Honda does focus some of their advertisements on being green too......this one just didn't.
You can be constantly angered at lots of things in life.....like the obscene amounts paid to footballers...and other entertainers...however being angered doesn't change the plight of the children of Africa or any other disadvantaged country one iota.

It is therefore, just as pointless to get angered...unless of course you are going to jump up and do something about it.

I personally respect companies that do their charitable works privately and silently without any thought of publicty for the good work.
I am suspect of companies that do stuff so that they get 'free advertising'.....i would prefer to know that an Advertisement is an advertisement...not a charity exercise.

There is nothing wrong with you letting the hippie in your soul have a run out.
And I prefer to think of myself as a realist with cynical tendencies...I have lived a lot of life and it does alter your perception somewhat.

Re: Anyone see the live Honda Advert?

Why does everyone assume this was so expensive ? I mean in comparison to other adverts which also take a lot of people, some with very high pay cheques. I mean the CGI team on the bacardi ad will have been paid a lot of money.
