I suppose if the drugs could benefit you in the future then you might consider testing them. I have been lucky not to have been in that position but can imagine if I was and all the other drugs weren't helping then trying a new drug would be ok. At the end of the day these drugs have to be taken by someone to see if they work. The decision ultimately is down to you if you are prepared to be one of the first to try them.

was it last year or the year before when 7 people or so nearly died when their heads blew up to 4x their origional size when doing these drug trials lol

may sound like easy money but you take a risk when you do it

however

a bloke i worked with did a weeks drug trial somwhere and they had to stay in the hospital while they were doing the trials

he got paid a couple of grand and also CLAIMED to have slept with a couple of the nurses

guess its up to you what you think the pros and cons are lol

I saw the photo in the paper of the fella who's head blew up to something like 4 times its size......he looked like the elephant man and he was due to get married soon. That was why he did the trial, to help with the cost.

I think drug trials are a marvellous thing but stories like these don't half put you off.

I'm not at all sure that cash incentives for participants in clinical trials are completely ethical.

The only trouble is that without clinical trials a drug won't be licenced, you may get people who will try out new lotions and portions because it may help their condition, but in some cases that isn't always possible

There is no way i would take part in a drugs trial!
I can't even take paracetemol without side effects,i think it would be hazardous for me!

Appreciate what you are saying jaysay. The Companies have to do the trials as you point out. I just don’t think the situation is ideal , giving cash incentives to increase participant rate.

It’s hardly ideal, it’s easy for folk like myself to criticise the situation. Much harder to come up with an alternative.
