Re: Appreciating Accrington
Carrying a weapon in Accy should be compulsory as it is a very very dangerous place at night. The best one's would be job offers and an invite to drug and booze rehab.
Sorry Caz couldnt resist. It was either that or a vip invite to the grand opening of the next pound shop.

On the same scale Caz, ordinary household knives are use in crime, in fact in a lot of crimes, if these were baned we'd have to go back to medieval days and us our fingers to eat our meals

The thing is Spugs carla made a statement, which not to put to fine a point on it rather a little ill advised to say the least, then carried on trying to justify her statement only to dig herself in deeper

Re: Appreciating Accrington
First off serious hunters have their guns licensed and locked up safely when not in use.
I cannot understand why anyone would want to have a gun, I would have no hesitation in letting the police know if I knew someone owned a gun illegally that would include my own family.
Sadly Accrington now sounds a very dangerous place to live. The fact that some of you personally have been victims of some violence is awful and I can appreciate how frustrated you must feel when it seems that the violence is escalating and the police cannot do a lot about it. 21yrs ago when I left England youth offenders were on a serious rise and there was a lot of debate about whether they should be tried as adults rather than young offenders. Clearly it did get worse.
Maybe I am wrong but I get the feeling that many people across the U.K would say they no longer feel safe regardless of where they live.

I get the feeling that many people across the world would say they no longer feel safe regardless of where they live. Guns are everywhere these days, as are knifes, as are bad people.
I wouldn't consider Accrington to be such an unsafe place to be at night. Just use common sense as you would wherever you are at whatever time of day.
If I knew someone with an unlicensed gun, I would be a little worried about why they have it. I would consider reporting to police, depending on how close this person was to me, if they where a friend I would try to talk them into getting rid(or ask to borrow it and go have some fun, oops did I really type that ), but fortunately I don't have any friends that would have an unlicensed gun, I don't think.

Re: Appreciating Accrington
i have never in my life felt that i should stop quitting just because people dont like what i say? why should i start now?? im not proud of people who own weapons but just because i know people who have had a weapon does not mean that it will stop or that i can make it stop. i think that a few people know that no matter how many times you try and tell the police something they never listen until something happens.
and no i am not blaming the police as i have alot of respect for them.
or am i just the unlucky one that whenever i need help i get it 3 days later??

Spot on Roy. Accrington isn't a dangerous place, there are some nutters around as there are in every town. Always have and always will be.

Re: Appreciating Accrington
Last week after playing pool i walked home from Bash ... it was about 10.30pm and it was either wait 20 mins for a bus or walk. I was just passing some houses and a car went past with young lads in it who shouted out the window at me as i walked down the road. Why do they do this?

You've been the victim of a drive by shouting.
