Re: Are there too many taxi's in accrington?
I think we have a lot of taxis in Accy but surely there must be a need for them otherwise it wouldn't be cost effective for the drivers. I would rather them all be metered cause I hate it when they say "your usual" when you dont know what that is.

Re: Are there too many taxi's in accrington?
Are you sure all them taxis are from Accrington? They might be from Blackburn or Rossendale or Burnley and they've brought a fare over so they stay on taxi rank to get a fare back?
By the way i thought all taxis had to have meters?

I know, thats why I bought a flat in the West End, as it was staggering distance home from the city centre, and I had some very interesting conversations with the working girls along the way, some of whom I became quite friendly with.

Re: Are there too many taxi's in accrington?
IIRC don't cars have to be under 3 YO when they are first registered as a taxi but can continue as long as they pass the Taxi MOT.

I lived just near Kelvinbridge in the West End. New apartment, bought off plan. Two beds, two bathrooms, top floor. Great views of the city on one side, and the University on the other. Best of all it was walking distance from the city centre clubs, and Byres Road/Ashton Lane for trendy wendy bars and shops.
My non-descript English accent was never a problem, even with my East End gangster mates.

Re: Are there too many taxi's in accrington?
I don't know about too many taxis but we definitely have too many take-away/kebab shops. Whilst walking through town on Saturday night, I noticed that most of these kebab shops were empty of customers. Surely the people of Hyndburn aren't scoffing kebabs every night. how do these shops make a profit, how do they recoup their running costs? I have a theory that some of these places are just fronts for more sinister dealings, money laundering etc...
