So what are armed police in unmarked cars doing in Accrington? It must be a different place than that I grew up in.
Used one on many occasions Gordon bloody dangerous tackle in the wrong hands, once saw a nail from one of these guns go straight through a wall and hit a labourer in the backside, very very painful having it removed in hospital

with the latest experiences iv had with the local fuzz they probbably got mixed up and have not only arrested the poor lad for kidnapping an endangered species but are currently trying to breed it with one of their own panda's at greenbank

Re: Armed police in Accy

on our street the local fuzz put notices through the doors telling residents theres going to be a police raid some time during the day

obviously they dont put one through the letter box of the intended target but then again a text from a neigbour saying did you get a police notice usually tips off the target lol

sometimes its a miracle they catch anyone infact im surprised they dont have a camera of some sort to do raids and enforce the law like they do with traffic law

Re: Armed police in Accy

My parents and their neighbours keep being told by the cops that there is nothing they can do about kids kicking balls at their houses even though they don't live in the area. Follow the kids home and surprise surprise there are no ball games signs everywhere where the kids do actually live.

There have been several police incidents in the area and a very nasty accident, involving the roof being cut off a car, nearby but none of it is ever reported in the papers.

so if a housing assaociation threatens eviction because your kids insist on playing ball games in your own garden they havnt really got a leg to stand on ?

also i bought my lad a pinball machine for xmas are you now saying he can play this outdoors

on a serious note if parents could be forced to pay for dammage tehir kids did with a ball and the option of telling the victim suffering dammage to tehir car or house to F off removed there wouldnt be a need for no ball games signs

Spot on there Neil not worth the sign they're written on, the number of times councilors are asked to get these signs is incredible and they're not enforceable

Almost all signs telling you what to do, or what not to do, have to have the relevant bylaw and potential penalty displayed on them as well in order to be deemed "effective".

The obvious exception to this is road signs.

The problem with "No ball games" signs on housing association land is that it's private property - and the housing association can make up its own rules and claim trespass if you break them or eviction if it's a repeat "offender". Whether they'd actually go that far on a potentially risky technicality is another matter, though...

Re: Armed police in Accy

Many of the road markings around Accrington are unenforceable, if they are broken, faded so much that they are incorrect size or not terminated, then you should win an appeal if given a ticket. Thats probably why no one takes any notice of them on B`burn road.

Roundabouts are very visible, but it's amazing the amount of people who take no notice of them either.
