Arnold Hagenbach - I Spit On Your Grave!

Arnold who?, I can see you all say. Who the bloody hell is he? Or rather, who the bloody hell was he, because the good news is he's dead, and he has been since February. Well, although you may never have heard of his name, practically all of you will have seen his handiwork and his legacy in the form of the Arndale centre in Accy.
That's right, he was one half of the duo (the other being Chippindale, hence Arndale) who developed these ubiquitous shopping centres throughout the North of England, with Accy being one of the worse examples. This guy - along with his partner - has been more responsible for the wholesale destruction of so many of our traditional town centres than few others, with Accy being a prime example.

Anyway, read his obituary and rejoice!

Re: Arnold Hagenbach - I Spit On Your Grave!

Accy's isn't quite as hideous as the thing in Manchester which has always resembled an overgrown public convenience (but doesn't seem to have much in the way of public conveniences within it)

Pity he didn't stick to baking.

I must admit that I like to be able to shelter from the rain in a covered shopping precinct but it's a shame they couldn't have been created with a little more sympathetic attitude to the existing area instead of looking like clones of each other.

Sadly though, the gap between the two isn't covered though- another well planned bit of Accy!.
A Garinda with rain running down my neck is not a happy bunny.

Neither is a soggy Willow. It wouldn't have taken much extra thought and planning would it?

the outdoor is only ok if you are in the middle isle, stand round the edge and you are a magnet for wind and rain, not the best idea the council ever came up with.
