I voted "No" because of the CAP
It was a totally different animal then - a mutually beneficial trading association of independent states and that's exactly how it was sold to the British people. Since then the basic nature of it has changed, taking away huge swathes of sovereignty from us and issuing realms of legislation which affect our everyday lives. It has also taken on more and more of the trappings of a superstate with no borders between the different countries and its own foreigh minister. Did anyone tell us about this back in '75? I think not!

Was going to say exactly the same thing Wyn, today's European Parliament is entirely different to animal to what was the common market, as it was better known in those days and which was a good thing for the counties trade, but now its gone completely overboard, the only thing I am glad about is that we steered clear of the euro

Sorry, I wasn't ignoring your question. I have only just read the thread and spotted it.

I'm not a member of any of the political parties. I can see good and bad in both left and right, but would never nail my colours to the mast of one or t'other.
