Re: Balsamic Vinigar

You could try using it in a salad dressing, I use 4 parts olive oil(extra virgin) to 1 part Balsamic Vin, also freshly milled black pepper and a teaspoon of wholegrain mustard.

I just dont like the idea that people seem to become unable to taste their food without it. One of my housemates said I had to put some salt in my my pasta and I couldnt even eat it without wanted to actually be sick, and I'd only put a little pinch in. I just dont see the point.

I dont need karma for not using salt and vinegar either, though its nice to know that I couldve actually got some for once, but I will just cherish that I'll probably live longer if I dont pollute my body with salt and vinegar.

I think its in Denmark, not sure now, but I had a friend from there and he said he couldnt comprehend the use of salt and vinegar on chips, they didnt even have a popular brand of salt and vinegar crisps.

Re: Balsamic Vinigar

I don't add salt in the cooking to any meals and I get a bit peeved when people who I've cooked for add salt or pepper before tasting it. How do they know whether it needs additional seasoning. Because I don't add salt I can really taste in takeaway food, mainly in Chinese food as they tend to use a lot. Most processed foods are very salty as well - I wish they'd stop adding salt, it's hardly needed as a preservative these days.

Vinegar as part of a balanced diet can actually be very good for you. It's part of the Meditteranean diet which is extremely healthy - lots of tomatoes and vinegar. Obviously, I realise that if you have a reaction to vinegar it's not very good for you at all but as a generalisation for most people it is.

A sprinkle of balsamic vinegar on fresh sliced strawberries or raspberries with a bit of sugar really brings out the flavor of the fruit and will have you addicted

You are in need of good karma I If you wish to keep posting on here I think they only allow so many red's berfore they ban you, but I will stand correction on that one. Blazey you are very offensive at times and nice at others, I suggest you 'work' on your alter ego and give the dodgy side some Valium. I lived and l worked accross the 'sound' in Helsingor-Helsingbourg, for a couple of years and they only salt Salami and Jerky, to cure it, you will not find Salt or Vinegar on a table in Sweden.

That's how I like my balsamic vinegar.

You could try different types/flavours of oils too.

But surely if its out balanced by green rep then there is no need grounds to ban me? The only reason I have no rep at the moment as I got a silly yellow card for my avatar, and took all my rep power away. I got a green rep yesterday anyway

Eeew hek, best not come for a meal at your house then .. love all dressings, cannot eat a meal without salt or black pepper.(in fact, seem to remember you didn't have one of these last time I was there ?) Just a habit since childhood.

Do you remember the episode from 'The Chef' with Lenny Henry and he went bananas when someone asked for such condiments .. one of these days gonna' experience the same thing I think.

Take the last meet at the Railway, lovely supper, but they did not have salt and pepper, found extremely difficult to eat anything. In a pub they usually love to lace you with vinegar, salt, etc., as makes you drink more...

Love Balsamic on a salad, plus Caesar dressing, plus salt and vinegar.

I appear to have extremely strong guts for some reason, last time I was sick was 34 years ago, and due to over-indulgence of the demon drink in Ibetha.
Have never had indigestion in my life.

I don't mind people adding a bit of salt or pepper AFTER they've tasted the food - but if you haven't tasted it how do you know it needs it?

Always need it I'm afraid .. Can just tell somehow with the look of it.. oh, I know, now you going to put me to the test sometime, aren't you, and serve me over salted food

Don't think a small amount of salt whilst cooking does any harm .. mum always used to tell me brought out the flavour. Yuk, can you imagine boiled potatoes not cooked without salt ?

I don't need to imagine them - that's how I make them.

Thing is, and I know Mother's are always right, but on this one I think your Mum's wrong! If you don't add salt you can actually taste the food itself.
