Clearly a well-loved and respected gentleman .

It's sad that we so often wait until someone has passed away before we express love and respect for them .

I regret the many times I could have done or said something good and kind to those who were part of my life , but held back . I suppose it's something to do with being British . We are not good at showing our feelings .

I hope the deceased councillor's wife gets comfort from the tributes being paid to him .

Unfortunately I believe that John's wife is also quite ill at this time which is very sad indeed
