Beatles ban Lifted!

just read that Isreal are lifting the ban on the Beatles, handed to them in 1965, cos they thought they would corrupt israeli youth. the surviving members n relatives of the deceased band are to be invited to celebrate the countries 60th anniversary, do you think they should accept the invite? or tell em to get knotted? i think the latter.

I wouldn't want anyone to go because I don't think the State of Israel, in the form it took in 1948, is justified. I am not anti-semitic by any means but I do not like the way it was done and the consequences for the Palestinian Arabs.

Yes, but far more important than that, if the ban was lifted, you might be faced with the appalling prospect of Yoko Ono visiting your country.

Oh god, you're right. Can we ban her from visiting my present country?

Not being influenced by the lovable, scouse, mop-tops, probably allowed Israel to produce such top pop acts as Dana International and....er,....that's it really.

Personally I think Lady Heather Mills McCartney should go and celebrate with the Israelis, as long as she doesn't show us all up by getting legless.

Re: Beatles ban Lifted!

my objection is simple, the bans been in place nearly 43 yrs, now cos they wanna have a knees-up for the 60th anniversary, they lift the ban, should have been lifted yrs ago, when they were all still living, plus a "sorry we were a bit silly" wouldn,t have gone amiss, i was never the worlds biggest beatles fan,by any stretch, but that lot corrupting anybody.
