Same with the Serbs/Croats/Bosnians, these folks should be Turkeys problem (original colonial owners) How do these people get to the UK in the first place, surely Britian isn't the first country they enter after leaving their homeland , ( just checked and niether British Airways nor easyjet have direct flights to the UK)

Many of them cross several European countries to get here which are classed a safe ie Germany, Italy, France, Holland etc. Therefore there is only one answer.... benefits.

No doubt Remedi will call me a rascist *** for that answer but I have yet to understand why if people are fleeing for their lives they don't feel safe in a safe country when passing through to get here ?

To get homes [better than those they get at home or possibly in safe other countries, the benefit system, donations, access to services & work

etc etc

They interviewed immigrants passing thro france & they said they want to go to the UK cos the uk will provide them with a better life, security, housing, etc even said that the uk was paved with gold for them

Lets let them die in their own country then and stop bothering us. Why on earth wouldn't you want the best possible life for yourself and for your family if fleeing some of the horrors that they have faced.
Are there illegal immigrants?- Yes of course there are but there is an inherent risk with branding the entire immigrant population in this manner.

There seems to a suggestion that I should not respond to some of the previous posts by saying they are racist but there are racist attitudes on display. If you dont want to be called a racist dont make racist comments.

To suggest that Germany or France for that matter are safe countries for immigrants is naieve in the extreme.

But as with anything in life good nature is abused, as with genuine refugees - fine but there are many that get here illegally & 'claim' assulym when they clearly are not in danger as they say

According to an earlier post you effectively said people are too terrified to live here so what makes the French and Germans any worse. I tend not to read papers, most of the stuff is made up, so I always look forward to the facts from people like yourself who have been at the coalface so to speak.

Mmmm i think you need to come down a peg or 2 & remove the rosey glasses to get real, maybe read the thread as it was about begging

Pardon the pun but I beg to differ. Do you really not see the racism in the following terms-

'Thought these people took care of their own'

'You should have given her a pork scratching'

'These people are Romanian gypsies. There was a plague of em down here until about 5 years ago'

As to the thread going 'off message' I thought that was a nautural evolution of the discussion- apologies if that is not acceptable but I thought that was kind of the whole point of a forum.
