Thing is, I don`t see how they can have any say which garage does your repair for you, if you have a preferred garage you`ve used before, then you should be able to take it there, whether they`re accredited or not.

My brother got them to drop it off outside the garage he usually used, it was early evening on the Sunday night, he called in on the way to work first thing Monday to tell them what was wrong only to find his car had been vandalised.
The owner of the garage said someone had obviously broken into the car to hot wire it, when they couldn't get it started they smashed all the windows, slashed his tyres and didn't leave a panel unscratched.
The guy said he would never leave a car on his forecourt overnight, so perhaps it's cheaper to pay for a tow on the Monday than insist it's dropped off that night?

Re: Beware Breakdown on a Sunday.

We use a company that just insures the recovery and doesn't do roadside, so it's less than half the price of the big names. You choose your own recovery company and pay the bill for getting the car recovered to where you want. Their invoice is reimbursed by the insurers at a later date.

I've used it only once, to recover to Great Harwood from Clitheroe, but the garage who did the recovery said that if it were a weekend they would recover to my house and then pick the car up on Monday all under one invoice, which it would address the OP's problem if he'd used the same company...

If his car is at home it's nothing to do with the breakdown company who he uses. They did their bit so he can ring his local garage or whoever he wants.
