Re: Big day for Gayle

I hope the people of St Andrews appreciate that they have rejected someone who would have worked much harder than Peter Britcliffe for both them and the borough of Hyndburn.
Having seen his antics and posturings at election counts over the years I doubt both his intelligence and sanity.
You campaigned and fought hard Gayle - I know just how much work you did.
The only concillation is that by the people of Immanuel electing Collette they have sent out the message to Oswaldtwistle that the Tories aren't invincible.

Commiserations Gayle but a very respectable defeat. I just can't believe they've voted him back in. Ah well. Maybe next time.

Why wasn't there voting in every Ward?

Re: Big day for Gayle

The way it works is this -

There are 33 seats on the Council, each Councillor sits for four years but they are not all elected on at the same time, the seats are up for election on a rotating basis. For three out of the four years 1/3 of the seats are up for election i.e. 11 seats. On the fourth year there are County Council elections.
